Teach For America

Since 1991, Teach For America has brought more than 1,200 leaders to South Texas schools. Today, we are part of a movement working to change the region’s educational landscape and expectations for achievement. Approximately 175 teachers work in school districts throughout the Valley, including over 20 in Harlingen CISD. About 170 alumni of our program continue to live and work in the Rio Grande Valley with over 80% still in education.

We are always looking for ways to involve the business community in education and our work. Some opportunities for involvement include visiting a classroom for a guest lesson, inviting us to present at community events, and sponsorships. We are located on the 8th floor of the Chase Tower in McAllen. Our support area is throughout the entire region so we have staff regularly working in the Harlingen area supporting our teachers.
